Often it would slice the inner wires and I'd have to start over. This was my first time using this tool for repairing an ethernet cord. Maybe I need more practice with it. It does the job well. I had trouble with wire stripping feature. I had to crimp the plug twice quite hard to get it to fit in my router port. Not the most fun job to do, but this tool makes it easier.
recieved the product as ordered. I have no complaint with the company only the product. I have used another crimping tool that cut the wires as it crimped and it was much easier to build the connection. With this tool you must push the wires through the male end then cut the wires and then pull them back slightly before crimping the end.
Just Google for instructions on how to make your own CAT5 wires. Crimper tool was sturdy and well made. Works perfectly every time. I bought 200 ft of cable from Amazon for cheap and made enough cables to connect all my internet devices to the high speed router. This is my first time making my own CAT5 cables. Very easy to use, a no brainer tool. A wired connection, always on, was faster and more dependable than wireless. Highly recommend this tool.
I bought this because it always ended up that on cables I would buy (from Amazon) would eventually wear out on the plastic part that is supposed to snap in to your ethernet socket. The crimper works well and seems very solid and heavy. Eventually the snap was gone creating a loose connection that would easily slip out. Minus a star because the instructions included are minimal at best. I found a few videos online that were helpful. This ends up being a very inexpensive way to have a 'new' cable. Since I have had no luck with wireless routers I'm dependent on ethernet cables and this is a great tool and money saver.
I don't do a lot of cabling but after losing my old crimper I was looking for value. I still haven't figured out how to keep the thing closed in my toolbox--there's a "release" knob on the ratchet bar between the two handles but I think that's just operator error on my part. The crimper seems to be good and sturdy and works well enough. It has a Cat 5-type stripper and a flat cable stripper too. If you are the average computer geek I think this crimper will fill the bill. Decent price and it works.
